Meta's Muse AI agent sets new bar for consumer UX design
This is just a really well-designed personal agent. It's not that it's the most intelligent, it's not that it has the most powerful, it is just so well-designed.
I love this feature. If you are an agent designer, pay attention, because this lineage and this history of what it's done for me over time is really nice.
I think just the design thinking is very, very strong here and not just the fact that it'll track everything it's done for you, which shows the work, gives transparency, it's not just that it exposes the tasks that it's done and how it's in the tools that it's used and how it's done that work for you, but it's presented in a really easy to understand way.
- Meta's new personal AI agent, Muse, is primarily targeted at millennials with kids, focusing on use cases like managing family schedules, shopping, and household tasks.
- Muse offers a highly user-friendly and well-designed experience, prioritizing clear communication, permission-asking, and a human-first approach, which makes it less annoying than other AI agents.
- A key feature of Muse is its 'activity feed,' which meticulously traces every task it has performed for the user over time, providing transparency and a historical record of its actions.
- Muse allows users to define and track personal goals, offering a structured approach to managing aspirations beyond simple to-do lists, with features like personalized plans and reminders.
- The ability to generate personalized podcasts based on user interests, like a 'weekend wire' for AI news, was an unexpected and impressive feature of Muse.
- Muse's design thinking is exceptionally strong, focusing on user experience, progressive disclosure of information, and new primitives like 'ideas' and 'goals' that are highly consumer-friendly.
- The agent's ability to animate its avatar dynamically based on tasks, using image generation for on-demand loading screens, demonstrates a high level of design sophistication.
- While Muse excels in many areas, its browser use for shopping and finding specific items online still needs improvement, as it struggled with accuracy and efficiency in these tasks.
RevBots.ai View:
- AI Sprinkler teams will copy Muse's UX patterns without full workflow integration.
- The activity feed sets transparency standards all AI agents should adopt.
- Consumer UX innovations often lag 12-18 months in B2B tools like CRM/CDP platforms.
